Pittsburgh got a terrific performance from pitcher Stanley Lamb, but it wasn't enough to beat the Louisville Colts. Louisville won the Vulcan Grounds contest, 7-2. Lamb threw 8.0 innings of 3-hit ball for the losing team. Vernon Thorne, the winning pitcher, improved to 3-1. He pitched 9 innings, giving up 8 hits and 2 runs, while striking out 2 and walking 4. The Colts lead the Federal League by a game.

The Colts got a big at-bat from pitcher Vernon Thorne. For the game, Thorne threw 9.0 innings of 8-hit ball. In the top of the second, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 2-run triple. His 6th triple of the season gave Louisville a 2-1 lead.

"We didn't get the results that we wanted," said Pittsburgh skipper .
