| Westerners Shut Out Sturgeons, Strickland Winner | The Indianapolis Westerners whipped the Detroit Sturgeons, 1-0, at Western Grounds behind a masterful outing from starter Wilton Strickland.
Strickland shut out the Sturgeons on 3 hits and 2 walks. He registered 3 strikeouts over 9 innings.
"Velocity felt good, everything felt good today," a smiling Strickland said later. "Command felt good, conditions felt good, glove felt good, hat felt good. Seriously everything."
