| Unions Drop Robins, 7-3 | The Philadelphia Unions picked up a win at Girard Grounds, topping the Rochester Robins, 7-3. On the mound for Philadelphia was right-hander Mike McCord. He played a principal role in the triumph. In 9 innings, McCord surrendered 10 hits, while striking out 3 and walking 4. He allowed 3 runs. The 'W' lifts Philadelphia's record to 32-45.
Tied up with the Robins in the bottom of the fifth inning, the Unions got a boost from catcher Alexander Faulk. With runners on 1st and 2nd, Faulk saw a first pitch fastball from Tom Bell and hit a run-scoring single to break the stalemate and put Philadelphia on top, 3-2.
"I'm proud of the way our guys played today to come out with this win," McCord told the Philadelphia Citizen.
