Cyclones Collect 11-7 Win Versus New York
The Chicago Cyclones had to overcome a big game from New York first baseman Cornbread Collins to leave Columbia Field with a victory. And they did, winning, 11-7. Collins was 3 for 5 with 2 home runs. He scored 3 times and drove in 2. The Barons drop to 3-7 and continue their inconsistent start to the 1888 season.

Bill Avery had a big bases-clearing double for the Cyclones in the top of the first inning. With Chicago leading 1-0 and the bases loaded, he got a changeup from Jack McKinley, who finished 3rd in the FL in innings pitched with 485.0 in 1880, and swatted a double to left. It was his 3rd double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Cyclones ahead, 4-0.
