Cyclones Fall Short, 6-5, at Indianapolis
The Indianapolis Westerners defeated the Chicago Cyclones, 6-5. Third Baseman Will Wessels deserved a large share of the credit. Wessels went 2 for 4 with a double, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once for the Westerners. Wilton Strickland, the winning pitcher, improved to 1-2. He pitched 9 innings, giving up 13 hits and 5 runs, while striking out 1 and walking 3. Chicago, with the loss, is still a stout 8-2.

Wessels had an important at-bat with runners on 2nd and 3rd in the bottom of the seventh, when he hit a 2-run single. The Westerners went on to win.

In postgame comments to the Indianapolis Daily, Wessels said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
