| Cyclones Ding Federals, 5-2 | The rain did not keep Chicago and Washington from finishing their game.
The exploits of first baseman Morgan Cook, who finished 3rd in the FL in wins above replacement with 6.0 in 1884, helped the Chicago Cyclones defeat the Washington Federals, 5-2. Cook went 2 for 3 with a home run, a triple, and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2. Chicago pitcher Victor Anderson earned the win, hiking his record to 15-22. Ronald Langford suffered the loss.
With Chicago leading 3-2 in the top of the fifth, Cook hit a changeup from Ronald Langford for a solo home run. It was his 3rd home run of the season and put the Cyclones ahead, 4-2.
"The vibe's good," said Chicago manager . "We've got to keep it going."
With the win, Chicago goes to 47-50, while the Federals fall to 29-67. | | | | |
