| Sturgeons Handle Unions, 4-3 | The Detroit Sturgeons picked up a win at Riverside Park, dropping the Philadelphia Unions, 4-3. Norm Mason, who is on pace to win 11 games this season, was the difference-maker. The Sturgeons now own a record of 37-54.
In the bottom of the 5th, Detroit took the lead on a 2-run single by Wilbur Chase. At the time, the Sturgeons were trailing 3-2, but Chase's hit with two outs against Philadelphia pitcher Bancroft King put them in front, 4-3.
"This is a great group to be a part of, and it's a big win for us," Chase told the Detroit Times.
