Thrilling Walk-Off Win for Monarchs
Cincinnati got a first-rate effort from pitcher Ashton Slake, who frustrated Boston hitters en route to a 1-0 Monarchs triumph at Queen City Grounds II. Slake, who is tied for 6th in the IA in innings pitched with 231.2, went the distance for Cincinnati. He gave up no runs on 4 hits. Cincinnati is now 37-30. Boston is 34-33.

The Monarchs got a clutch hit from shortstop Jonathan Hawkins. In the bottom of the ninth, he delivered a run-scoring single to win the game for the Monarchs.

"The crowd was raucous," said Slake.
