The Cleveland Clippers turned back the St. Louis Pilots, 6-5, at Lakefront Park. David Bodine, in particular, had a fine performance. He was 2 for 3 with a triple and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Cleveland pitcher Dan Hicks earned the win, hiking his record to 6-17. Bulldog Ayers suffered the loss. The Clippers raised their record to 20-46.

Bill Berglund was the walk-off hero for Cleveland. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Clippers pinch hitter hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.

"This place was electric at the end," Bodine said.
