Kansas City right fielder John Reding had a terrific game, but it still wasn't enough to get his team a win. Reding was 3 for 5 with a triple and 2 singles, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2, even as Montreal beat the Prairie Dogs, 12-9. The win was credited to John Babbitt in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Hawk Johnson took the loss. The second-place Tigers are now 40-25, the Prairie Dogs 22-48.

An inflection point occurred with two out in the bottom of the seventh. That's when Tigers center fielder Buster Brown hit a fastball from Hawk Johnson for a 2-run single. Just like that, Montreal was up, 10-9.

"It's a good day to be a fan after a win like that," Brown told the Montreal Chronicle.
