| Westerners Win, 5-4, Versus Chicago | The Indianapolis Westerners picked up a win at Western Grounds, knocking off the Chicago Cyclones, 5-4. Starting pitcher Bill McDonald was a big reason why. McDonald, now 1-2, was the winner. In 9 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 3, walking 4, and allowing 4 runs. Chicago is now 6-7.
Had Bill Windom not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 3rd, Windom hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 5-4, in favor of the Westerners.
"It was a solid team effort," said McDonald after the game.
