| Big Day for Montrose: Swats 5 Hits | There aren't many who could be pro ballplayers and there are even fewer who could put up 5 hits in a day.
Sam Montrose is one of those rare few, as he went 5-for-5 against the Des Moines Pioneers at Ironhook Grounds. The monster effort from the 31-year-old catcher helped the Toledo Mudcats get the win, 9-7.
"We made some bad pitches and he took advantage of it," said Pioneers manager Alex Delgado. "That's the game, though. Don't make mistakes and you'll win ballgames. Make mistakes and, well, you saw what happened today."
Sam Montrose singled in the 1st, singled in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, hit an RBI single in the 6th and singled in the 7th.
In the current season, Montrose has put up a .476 batting average with 20 hits, 2 home runs, 6 runs batted in and scored 12 runs. | |
