Bannermen Send New York Home with 5-3 Loss
The Baltimore Bannermen picked up a win at Excelsior Grounds, downing the New York Excelsiors, 5-3. On the mound for Baltimore was right-hander Nate Shine, who played a pivotal role in the win. The Bannermen now have a record of 45-49 with the win over New York.

Bill Silvers had a big 2-run double for the Bannermen in the top of the first inning. With Baltimore leading 1-0 and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he got a slider from Eddie Montague, who is on pace to win 11 games this season, and swatted a double to center. It was his 22nd double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Bannermen ahead, 3-0.

Silvers attributed the win to his team's "concerted effort."
