Barons Win Close Shave, 7-6
Fans who congregated at Derby Grounds were treated to extra-inning drama.

Good production from left fielder Jefferson McMillen helped the New York Barons topple the Louisville Colts, 7-6. McMillen was 5-5 with a home run, a double, and 3 singles. He scored 3 times for the Barons. The Colts fall to 4-9 and continue their unimpressive start to the 1888 season.

The game was at a stalemate until second baseman Virgil Arwood came to bat in the top of the 11th. Facing Louisville pitcher Ray Ball, he hit a full count fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting New York on top, 7-6.

"I was able to barrel up some pitches," said McMillen.
