Pilots Score Late to Nip Excelsiors, 5-4
The St. Louis Pilots dealt the New York Excelsiors a 5-4 loss at Fuchs Park. Jasper Hines, who finished 4th in the IA in runs with 56 in 1882, was the star on offense. He went 4-5 with 4 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. The loss makes New York 35-27.

The game was still up for grabs in the bottom of the ninth. With two out, Hines hit a fastball from Eddie Montague for a run-scoring single. The Pilots, in dramatic fashion, had a walk-off win.

"I was a little disappointed," said New York manager . "We could've and should've scored more runs."
