A nice crowd turned out for a clash between the Montreal Tigers and New York Excelsiors.

The Montreal Tigers put together a convincing win at St. Gabriel Grounds II, defeating the New York Excelsiors, 12-3. Buster Brown was one of the hitting stars. He went 2 for 4 with 2 triples and a walk. He scored 3 runs and drove in 2 for Montreal. Montreal is 66-39 and New York, with the loss, 37-66.

Brown had a big at-bat with runners on 1st and 3rd in the bottom of the first inning, when he hit a 2-run triple. The Tigers went on to win.

New York manager said: "We got ambushed. We just sashayed into the canyon and they were firing from both sides."
