Colts Nudge Past Cyclones, 9-8
The Louisville Colts needed 11 innings to defeat the Chicago Cyclones, 9-8, at Derby Grounds. Louisville first baseman Larry Buckley had a superb performance. He was 4 for 5 with a triple and 3 singles. He scored 2 runs. The winning pitcher was 24-year old right-handed pitcher Sam Barnhill. He tossed 199 pitches over 11 innings, allowing 8 runs on 15 hits. Louisville has run its win streak to 4 consecutive.

Batting in the bottom of the 11th, 31-year old shortstop Norm Heyward had a real shot to win the game. Chicago pitcher Julian Berry was determined not to let it happen. But with one out, Heyward hit a 2-run single. The Colts had a walk-off triumph.

"What a game," said Buckley. "We needed every last run."
