Brahmins Suffer One-Run Loss at Toronto
Fans watched the Toronto Provincials and the Boston Brahmins fight to the finish.

The Toronto Provincials withstood an impressive performance by Boston third baseman Tony Heath to defeat the Brahmins, 6-5, at Garrison Common Grounds. Heath went 3 for 4 with a triple, 2 doubles, and a walk. He scored 2 runs. Glen Nalley, the winning pitcher, improved to 12-9. He pitched 9 innings, giving up 10 hits and 5 runs, while striking out 8 and walking 7.

Standpipe Read contributed a productive at-bat in the bottom of the sixth. With runners on 1st and 3rd, he hit a 2-run single. His at-bat helped Toronto get the win.

In postgame comments to the Toronto Bulletin, Read said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."

With the win, Toronto raised its record to 47-36.
