The Cincinnati Monarchs besoiled an otherwise fine performance by Montreal left fielder Spider Burchett by beating the Tigers, 6-3, at St. Gabriel Grounds II. Burchett was 2 for 3 with a home run, a triple, and a walk. He scored 2 runs. The win puts the Monarchs at 49-36, while the Tigers drop to 46-37.

Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for Ed Ford? The 24-year old first baseman Ford stroked a 2-run double in the top of the seventh inning to put Cincinnati up, 5-3. For the game, he was 3 for 5, including 1 double and 2 singles.
