| Babbitt Tosses 9-0 Shutout Against Philadelphia | Goose eggs were the order of the day for the Philadelphia Bells as starter John Babbitt shut them out, 9-0, at Pioneers Park. The St. Louis pitcher struck out 5 and walked 3 while allowing 2 hits.
"Babbitt was good but he wasn't flawless," Philadelphia manager said. "We had a few opportunities to make something happen and we didn't do it. Not to take anything away from St. Louis, but this is on us."
