Big Day for Hughes as Columbians Down Dutchmen, 10-5
Washington and Cincinnati took Mother Nature's best shot and still managed to complete their ballgame.

The Washington Columbians defeated the Cincinnati Dutchmen, 10-5, at Over-the-Rhine Park. Henry Hughes was one of the standouts for Washington. His 3 hits included 2 singles and 1 triple -- this in addition to the 3 runs he scored and 4 he knocked in. Picking up the win was John Kershaw. He went 9 innings, allowing 5 runs on 9 hits. The right--hander struck out 9 and walked 0.

Hughes got the Columbians off to a quick start. In the top of the first, with a runner on 2nd, he hit a run-scoring single.

"The boys came out and just played their butts off," said Washington manager .

With the win, Washington lifts its record to 4-5.
