Kershaw, Columbians Finish Off Pioneers, 3-1 | Washington and St. Louis played a hard-fought contest.
The Washington Columbians got a magnificent performance from pitcher John Kershaw, who muffled the St. Louis offense en route to a tight, 3-1 Columbians win at Pioneers Park. The Columbians are off to a tough start, getting just their 7th win in 19 games.
Kershaw, who dominated for Washington, earned the victory to move to 5-7. He was in control the whole game, scattering 5 hits over 9 innings, while striking out 4. St. Louis batters could never bunch up enough hits to produce a rally.
"That was a really good outing by John," said Washington manager . | | | | |
