Floundering Unions Lose 6th Straight
The New York Columbians picked up a win at Columbia Field, topping the Philadelphia Unions, 6-5. On the mound for New York was right-hander Tom Ewart. He played a principal role in the triumph. Ewart yielded 5 runs over 9 innings to notch the win. He scattered 10 hits, walked 1, and struck out 4. His record improves to 3-6. The Unions, now 4-10, continue their slow start.

The decisive blow was delivered by Jefferson McMillen in the bottom of the ninth when he hit a 2-run double off 23-year old right-handed pitcher Bancroft King to win the game for New York. The home crowd went nuts.

"It's great when the crowd goes berserk," McMillen said.
