Hoppe Socks It to Excelsiors, Cracks 5 Hits
5 times is the charm -- at least for Jackrabbit Hoppe.

The Baltimore Bannermen first baseman tore up the New York Excelsiors to the tune of 5 hits in 5 at-bats at Banner Field. The offensive onslaught from Hoppe powered the 13-3 Bannermen win.

"Hoppe was a tough out," New York manager said to the press in the postgame interview. "He hit some very good pitches with that quick bat of his. Not an easy out, that's for sure."

Jackrabbit Hoppe doubled in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 3rd, doubled in the 4th, hit an RBI single in the 5th and doubled in the 7th.

At the moment, Hoppe is hitting .390 with no home runs and 6 RBIs. He has played in 9 games and scored 7 times.
