The Philadelphia Bells had to overcome a big game from St. Louis second baseman Sam Day to leave Pioneers Park with a victory. And they did, winning, 6-4. Day was 4-5 with 4 singles. The Bells raised their record to 28-19.

John Davis helped his team jump on top from the get-go. His first time up in the top of the first, he cranked a run-scoring single to give Philadelphia a 1-0 lead.
