| Ashe Tosses Shutout Against Milwaukee Sunday, July 8th , 1883 George Ashe kept the Milwaukee Creams hitters from doing much damage at Riverside Park.
Milwaukee could only muster 8 hits and draw no walks against the right-handed Ashe, who controlled them throughout the game. Detroit won the contest, 6-0. Ashe added 4 strikeouts in his complete-game effort.
"I don't know if I was on or if they were off today," Ashe told reporters after the shutout win. "But whatever it was, I hope it happens again next time."
This year, Ashe has fashioned a 3-6 mark, 4.85 ERA and pitched 78 innings. Opposing clubs are batting .291 against him and he has logged 21 strikeouts.
