| Lemmons Tosses 2-0 Shutout Against Indianapolis Saturday, August 25th , 1883 The Indianapolis Stars struggled at the plate against Excelsiors hurler Candy Lemmons, who shackled them on 4 hits while hurling a complete-game 2-0 shutout.
"What can you say? We didn't hit well," said Stars skipper in postgame comments. "Hopefully we shake this off and bounce back tomorrow."
Lemmons finished the game with 3 strikeouts and no walks in an excellent mound performance.
"He pitched real well," New York manager said. "Candy made pitches when he had to. He hit his spots and did a great job of mixing in his changeup and using his fastball effectively."
To date this season, Lemmons has registered 51 starts, 31-20 won-lost mark, 2.09 ERA, 460 IP, 194 strikeouts and 49 walks. Opposing teams have hit .242 against him.
