Hicks Leads Cleveland to 4-0 Win Over Chicago
Tuesday, August 28th , 1883
Before the game, Dan Hicks said he liked his chances. His instincts proved to be right. In a superb outing at Garrison Grounds, the Blue Caps pitcher blanked the Chicago Cyclones, 4-0.

"I just had a feeling it was going to be my day," Hicks said in the clubhouse afterward. "My control was awesome. I could throw my fastball even when I was behind in the count."

The Cleveland starter held Chicago scoreless, giving up 3 hits while registering 3 strikeouts and issuing 2 walks.

"We didn't have very many good at-bats," Cyclones manager said in a postgame interview. "When that happens, you usually lose."

This year, Hicks has worked 340.1 innings with 143 strikeouts en route to a 26-12 record and a 2.35 ERA.
