Toronto Comes up Empty Against Lemmons
Wednesday, August 29th , 1883
In a seemingly effortless performance, Candy Lemmons of the New York Excelsiors shot down the Toronto Provincials, 4-0, on 2 hits.

"Candy was just locating so well and using his pitches," New York manager said later. "He wasn't leaving anything over the plate."

Lemmons recorded 4 strikeouts and 1 walk in a strong outing.

"When he needed to make pitches, he elevated his game," Toronto manager said in postgame comments to BNN. "We couldn't get a key hit off him."

On the season, Lemmons has a 32-20 record with a 2.05 ERA.
