Rochester Star Is Triple Crown Winner
Monday, October 1st , 1883
Larry Buckley is sitting on top of the world tonight. He got himself a Triple Crown this year -- the 3rd player in PBB history to ever accomplish this feat.

The Rochester Robins first baseman outpaced the rest of the Federal League offensively this year. Buckley, age 25, hit .344, collected 10 home runs, and chipped in 95 RBIs for the Robins. He led in all three categories to capture the Triple Crown, one of the rarer feats in baseball.

"It's all about hard work," noted one club official. "Larry arrives early, takes extra BP and really make a science of hitting. He religiously studies the pitchers. Keeps a journal on all of 'em. He's very thorough."
