 | Quebec Starter Named IA's #1 Pitcher Monday, September 1st , 1884 In August Quebec starter Tom Child mystified International Association hitters and carried off the Pitcher of the Month honors by chalking up a 9-1 record in 11 starts. The 20-year-old Child added 57 strikeouts in 96 innings and 11 walks to his season record and compiled a 0.66 ERA. Opposing batters hit .165 against him. Child has made 47 starts so far this year and put up a 26-19 won-lost record with a 1.91 ERA. In 400.1 innings he has allowed 355 hits, walked 61 and struck out 235. |   |
