| Indianapolis Bats Silenced by Shaw Saturday, September 27th , 1884 The Indianapolis Stars manager was philosophical in the clubhouse following a shutout loss to the Boston Minutemen. The Stars were overpowered by Boston starter Coy Shaw, who hurled his club to victory, 6-0.
"It was just one of those games -- shake it off and do better next time," said.
Over 9 innings, Shaw blanked Indianapolis on 5 hits with 1 walk and 1 strikeout.
"I kept them off balance. I could tell a lot of them were late on fastballs because they were fouling them off. Once you see that, it sets them up for other pitches," Shaw said.
"I set them up, where if they chased one breaking ball, they were going to chase another one."
This year, Shaw has fashioned a 12-33 mark, 3.34 ERA and pitched 374 innings. Opposing clubs are batting .240 against him and he has logged 137 strikeouts.
