 | Great Month Gets FL Top Rookie Trophy Saturday, October 1st , 1887 The Federal League announced today that Tom Samples has been chosen the league's Rookie of the Month. The New York starter had everything working for him last month as he glided to a 4-2 record. In September Samples chalked up a 2.52 ERA in 53.2 innings with 15 strikeouts and 11 walks. This season, Samples has a 16-20 record with a 3.94 ERA. |   |
