| Vulcans Shut Out Barons, Lamb Winner Tuesday, September 11th , 1888 Stanley Lamb shut down the New York Barons, blanking them, 1-0, on 2 hits, ringing up 4 strikeouts and allowing no walks. The Pittsburgh Vulcans pitcher appeared to get stronger as the game went on.
"I don't know if I was getting any stronger," Lamb said after the game. "I feel like my mechanics were getting better. I was able to make some adjustments and get a little more comfortable out there."
To date this year, Lamb has compiled a 25-21 mark with a 2.05 ERA in 46 starts.
