Merritt Hunter of the Provincials was unstoppable in his team's 13-8 victory over the Cleveland Clippers at Garrison Common Grounds. He battered them for 5 hits in 5 at-bats.

"Boy, I was on the mark today," said the Toronto right fielder after the game. "I could see the ball real well. It's a great feeling to do this. And besides, 5-for-5 won't hurt your batting average like 0-for-5 will."

Merritt Hunter singled in the 1st, doubled in the 3rd, singled in the 4th, singled in the 6th and singled in the 7th.

So far in 1888 Hunter is batting .265 with no home runs, 80 RBIs and 69 runs scored. He has 136 hits in 513 at-bats and a .296 OBP.
