Provincials Montgomery Takes IA Batting Crown
Wednesday, October 10th , 1888
The 1888 International Association batting champion is Isaac Montgomery of the Toronto Provincials.

He just closed out an impressive season with a .318 average.

His consistency at the plate was a prime reason the 27-year-old left fielder beat out the competition.

A slump was a rare occurrence for him. Playing in 136 games, Montgomery contributed 175 hits, 6 home runs and 104 RBIs to the Provincials attack.
