| Consecutive-Game Hit Streak Continues for Teller Thursday, August 27th , 1896 New York's 27-year-old shortstop George Teller is on a fine run at the plate. His consecutive-game hitting streak has reached 20 games, doing so by going 2-for-5 against the Boston Resolutes.
The streak has brought a degree of attention that Teller has often tried to deflect, talking about teammates' accomplishments rather than his own. After the Titans wrapped up their 13-12 triumph over Boston at Union Oval today, he downplayed his part in the victory.
"I got 2 hits," he said. "My contributions were no more important than those from everyone else who played today." George Teller grounded out in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 2nd, hit an RBI single in the 3rd, flied out in the 4th, grounded out in the 6th and was hit by a pitch in the 8th.
This season, Teller is batting .390 with 173 hits and 1 home run. He has scored 95 times and has 71 runs batted in. | | |
