Goodsell Holds Brahmins Scoreless Monday, September 1st , 1884 Sam Goodsell of the Baltimore Cannons overwhelmed the Boston Brahmins and walked off the mound with a complete-game shutout. He blanked them, 1-0, on 8 hits with a total of 7 strikeouts and no walks.
"Sam was on quite a roll," Baltimore manager said. "He gets great late movement and he doesn't give in to the hitters."
