| Bell Outstanding, No-Hits Catamounts Monday, September 22nd , 1884 In a dominant outing, Tom Bell of the Kansas City Bulls totally silenced the bats of the Chicago Catamounts, finishing with a no-hitter.
In the 12-0 victory, Bell faced only 28 batters, surrendered no hits, had 6 strikeouts and 1 walk.
"Honestly, I didn't even know the situation was what it was until the seventh inning," Kansas City manager said. "I happened to look up there to see how many hits we had gotten, and I happened to notice that they hadn't gotten any."
Commenting on the defeat, losing manager told reporters in the clubhouse that he had a "simple" analysis of the game.
"The Bulls had all the hits and all the runs, so they won," he snapped. "But yeah, Bell pitched a heck of a ballgame."
On the season, Bell has 34 wins and 21 losses and a 1.53 ERA.
