 | Marshall Bats .351, Wins NA Batting Title Tuesday, September 30th , 1884 Bob Marshall, the talented Boston catcher, has added to his list of accomplishments the National Alliance batting title. The 25-year-old Marshall finished the season with a .351 average to earn the accolade. In his standout year he also had 140 hits, 32 doubles, 13 triples, and 12 home runs.
