 | Hit Parade: Campbell Pops 5 Hits Wednesday, August 22nd , 1888 Today at Bayside Grounds, the Providence Planters fell to the Hartford Hawks despite a splendid performance by third baseman Jim Campbell. Campbell had an exceptional day at the plate, tagging Hawks pitching for 5 base hits, but it was not enough for Providence to come away with the win. Hartford whipped Providence by a score of 7-5. Jim Campbell hit an RBI single in the 1st, flied out in the 3rd, flied out in the 6th, flied out in the 8th, singled in the 11th, singled in the 13th, singled in the 15th and hit an RBI single in the 16th. Thus far this year, Campbell has hit .264 with 5 home runs and 26 RBIs. |   |
