Catamounts Deal Brahmins Painful Loss
Pitching was the name of the game for the Chicago Catamounts and the Boston Brahmins. Chicago won it, 2-1, in 17 innings. Chicago starter Albie Scott was in command. The Catamounts lead the National Alliance by 4½ games.

The Catamounts relied on third baseman Jonathan Hawkins for the game-winning hit. And, in the bottom of the 17th, he delivered, hitting a run-scoring single to seal the deal.

"Tough loss," said Boston manager . "This one will sting for a while."
