Washington center fielder Dick Stubbs helped his team beat the Indianapolis Westerners, 7-6. Stubbs, who finished 2nd in the FL in OPS with .868 in 1883, went 4 for 6 for the Federals. George Edwards closed out the game, earning his 1st save. Washington is off to a sluggish start, getting just their 7th win in 19 games.

Washington took advantage of an error in the top of the 11th inning. The game was tied, 6-6, when Ted Greene hit a run-scoring single that was misplayed. It put the Federals in front, 7-6.

Afterward, Indianapolis manager said: "Every team has a bad week."
