Pioneers Lose Late to Brahmins
Boston starter Lloyd Pierce pitched well against the St. Louis Pioneers at Pioneers Park. The left-hander led his team to a win, 9-6, in 15 innings. Boston reliever Lloyd Pierce got the win, raising his record to 2-1. Floyd Turner was tagged with the loss. The Brahmins now have a record of 50-31.

The most important at-bat for Boston came in the top of the 15th inning, when shortstop David Belden stroked a 0-1 slider to center for a run-scoring single, putting Boston up, 7-6.

Pierce said the win provided a "big morale boost" for the team. "There's a good feeling in the clubhouse right now."
