| Lamb Magic in 1-0 Shutout | There was no spell, no black magic -- just good pitching.
Stanley Lamb of the Pittsburgh Vulcans blanked the Washington Federals, 1-0, at Vulcan Grounds, and he did it the old-fashioned way. After finishing the 7-hit, complete-game shutout, he was all smiles.
"I threw a lot of my pitches for strikes in this game," Lamb said. "I mixed it up and tried keeping these guys off balance."
Lamb walked 0 and struck out 6 in the victory.
"He was throwing his breaking ball for strikes and we never capitalized on any of his mistakes," Federals manager said later.
For the season, Lamb has a record of 24 wins and 21 losses in 47 appearances. He has an ERA of 2.10 and has fanned 202 batters in 385.2 innings. | | |  | |
