| Cyclones Lose Late to Federals | The Washington Federals picked up a win at Garrison Grounds, knocking off the Chicago Cyclones, 4-3. On the mound for Washington was right-hander Ronald Langford. He played a key role in the triumph. Langford, the winner, moves to 12-19. He threw 9 innings of 2-hit ball, while fanning 5 and giving up 5 walks. At 31-49, the Federals find themselves in 7th place in the Federal League.
Washington used the timely hitting of Bob Jenkins to seize the win. The catcher stroked a 2-run single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Federals on top, 4-3. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"Ronald did a really nice job of taking the ball and giving us a chance to win the game," said Washington manager . | | | | |
