New York pitcher Tom Samples had a large part in his team beating the Indianapolis Westerners, 9-3. The left-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. For the Westerners, the loss makes their record 10-15.

Virgil Arwood had a big 2-run double for the Barons in the top of the second inning. With New York leading 3-0 and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he got a fastball from 25-year old right-handed pitcher Bill McDonald and swatted a double to right-center. It was his 7th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Barons ahead, 5-0.

"We didn't pitch good, and when you don't pitch good, you lose," said Indianapolis manager .
