| Louisville Shut Out by Bird | All went well for Martin Bird of the Detroit Sturgeons as he pitched his team to a shutout victory, 3-0, over the Louisville Colts, limiting them to 3 hits. In the postgame interview, both managers had glowing things to say about Bird on the day.
"Martin's got a good selection of pitches he can throw at a guy," said Sturgeons manager . "He changes speed, gives different looks to different hitters. When he's on his game, he's quite a handful."
In the contest, the Detroit right-hander rang up 2 and surrendered 1 walk.
"He didn't give us any second chances," said Colts manager . "It's a guessing game with him and today we were always guessing wrong."
In 9 starts this year, Bird has fashioned a 5-3 record and a 2.38 ERA. | | | | |
