| Clutch Hitting Delivers Win for Provincials | The Toronto Provincials rode a solid performance from 23-year-old starting pitcher Glen Nalley to a win, beating the Baltimore Bannermen, 5-1, at Banner Field. The Provincials are now 63-57, while the Bannermen fall to 61-58.
Toronto used the timely hitting of Standpipe Read to seize the win. The catcher stroked a 2-run single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Provincials on top, 3-1. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"My gosh almighty, Glen was tremendous," said Toronto manager . | | | | |
