| Clippers Beat Tigers, 9-3 | The Cleveland Clippers defeated the Montreal Tigers, 9-3, in International Association action at Lakefront Park. Cleveland pitcher Paul Jackson had a standout performance. Jackson, now 12-25, was the winner. In 9 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 1, walking 3, and allowing 3 runs. The loss makes Montreal 81-49.
An inflection point occurred with two out in the bottom of the fifth. That's when Clippers right fielder Victor Glaspie hit a fastball from Stu Archibald for a 2-run single. Just like that, Cleveland was up, 3-2.
"The most important thing is that we won," Glaspie said.
