| Detroit Downs Louisville, 4-3 | Martin Bird, who finished 2nd in the FL in wins with 31 in 1885, had a strong outing for the Detroit Sturgeons against the Louisville Colts at Riverside Park. The right-hander was a big part of his team's 4-3 win. Bird yielded 3 runs over 9 innings to notch the win. He scattered 7 hits, walked 2, and struck out 3. His record improves to 18-12. With the win, the Sturgeons have a record of 64-37.
Eli Money had a big run-scoring double for the Sturgeons in the bottom of the fourth inning. With Detroit leading 3-2 and a runner on 3rd, he got a forkball from Kip Hereford, who finished 3rd in the FL in saves with 2 last year, and swatted a double to center. It was his 12th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Sturgeons ahead, 4-2.
Money told the Detroit Daily News: "Win or lose, I don't want to see our team outhustled."
